Sunbathing Vs The Spray Tan

By Haywood Hunter

Whether one admits it or not, sunbathing comes with its own set of dangers that most people recognize. For one thing, there is the noticeable hike in skin cancer, which is directly related to overexposure to the sun. The spray tan, or sunless tanning is the alternative, which will be discussed below.

This method incorporates the use of numerous chemicals. They get a natural looking tan, without any danger relating to skin cancer. Science has shown a link between UV rays and skin cancer. Different self tanning methods have become very popular because people are trying to protect themselves, and rightfully so here it one way they do this is through the use of sunblock. The problem with sunblock is that it virtually blocks out vitamin D.

An effective and safe approach to self tanning involves certain carotenoids, which are anti-oxidants found in some forms of produce, like celery and tomato plants. They change the skin tone when added to one's diet, in high amounts, for instance. Another is lycopene, which has a strong color and is non-toxic, used in different areas of the world as a safe food coloring.

Although it is a temporary result, some astounding is the way to go. Last thing approximately 10 days or so, the consumer will have to be subjected to more sessions to maintain the color. The sessions are easy, involving shower stalls or cubicles where the spray is applied on the individual.

Protecting oneself is very important. Although these chemicals are considered safe, from government bodies all over the world, being cautious is always best. That means avoiding the inhalation when the application is being sprayed, and remember to keep the eyes shut.

Of course, there are many other self tanning methods as well, such as bronzers. These are generally applied by the individual, and come in the form of creams or lotions, sprays, mousse, and others. Sometimes, depending on the product, it could lead to streaking, and other problems, like staining. What's more is that these can come off in the shower, so they're only good for a day or so.

The sprayed on tan may very well be the best solution. It's quick and easy and lasts up to 10 days. Airbrushing is another option that is completed by professionals, generally in spas, but may also be in salons. Airbrushing is a great way to get a natural looking tan for any special event.

Whatever the case, there are lots of options which all lead to everything but what was the norm. Natural tanning is to be avoided at all costs. No one is denying the fact that vitamin D is necessary for good health, and that can be absorbed in just 15 to 20 minutes of daily exposure to indirect sunlight. Everyone should be true to themselves and try to avoid exposure to the sun in its peak hours, which can easily lead to the skin burning very quickly, and thereby increasing risks to developing skin cancer.
