The Procedure Of Pool Table Refelting Denver

By Lena Stephenson

Pool tables are designed for patios and indoor sports arenas. Pool is a game that most play during their leisure time with family and friends. The tables are able to last as long as 20 years with minimal maintenance when they are made from durable material. The part of the structure that is most vulnerable is the felt. In considering pool table refelting Denver residents should know the steps taken in order to come up with excellent results.

Felts are the fabrics that are attached to the surface of the pool table. The process of changing the felt is easy and can be done individually from home. The first step will be to determine the size of the table. The measurements are taken using a tape measure. A new felt can be obtained from a sports shop or even home improvement depots. The size taken should be such that there are some 12 inches extra from the width and length. There are usually many colors of felts. The choice of color depends on the individual. You can choose the same color like the current one or go for a different one.

The next step is to remove the rails. The tool used for this exercise is the crescent wrench. You should also remove the bolts that attach the rails. Normally, the rails are also covered by felt material and thus will have to be re-felted as well. The rails are then set on the floor carefully next to its position on the table. This is so done as to avoid making any errors when attaching them back. They may be attached on the wrong side.

The felt to be replaced is removed by using a staple remover to pull out staples at the edge of the felt. It will be essential to ensure that all felt is removed from the top of the table. The old one can be placed on a thrash bag from where it can be disposed of later.

The new felt needs to be carefully placed while taking care to inspect that no damaged are done and that there are no stains. A sharp scissor should then be used to cut it, using the border of the table to guide you. Some felt is left over to be used to re-felt the rails.

After making the cut, there is attachment of the felt to the table top using staplers. When stapling, you should start from the mid-point of one of the ends before proceeding to the left and right edges. Thereafter, you proceed to the opposite end and pull the felt tightly. This is followed by stapling it as was the case in the other side.

The side edges will then need to be stapled. You should ascertain that the staples are at an equal distance from each other and lined up in the correct way. For the pockets, 3 slits should be cut on every pocket before wrapping and stapling the felt on the edges of the pockets. The felt is tightly pulled prior to stapling.

Lastly, the structure is reassembled. A crescent wrench is used to attach the rails into position. The table is ready to be used after inserting the pocket lines.
